Coup de coeur

HARRY VIEUJOT

Shanghai
44 years old

Carpe diem!
From Lagny to Shanghai, the perpetual adventure of an elegant travelling man.

Harry Vieujot was born by the river Marne, in the lovely city of  Lagny. As a kid, Harry used to go boating and fishing, playing and dreaming by the river Marne with his brothers and sisters. He might also have painted, on the edge of the river, the pastoral landscapes of this land that saw the birth of pointillism. Harry was already dreaming of discovering the world, and living extravagant adventures! Did he ever think he would live in Shanghai?

His childhood and teenage years passed in studies and dreams. Harry believes tomorrow is another day, he is able to savour and live in the present moment.

In 1985, he was almost 20 years old. He had a vocational high school degree (in Trade and Management, with a specialization in Interior design)...and much ambition.

He was ready for adventure, the adventure of his life. He went from one place to another, driven by curiosity, desire and need to learn, to discover an almost perfect world, absolutely convinced that anything was possible. As a genuine backpacker, he never resisted to the call of winds and seas and has always been willing to meet new people. In France, in Belgium, or in the distant Caribbean, he developed activities in the industry of leisure real estate. He lives the life he loves: communicating, exchanging, sharing, always in a very straightforward, unfeigned, sincere way. He likes true feelings, those that form friendships, and encounters that broadens one's mind even though they leave scars. When not travelling, Harry recharges his batteries by reading He absolutely loves Marguerite Yourcenar, and he read "Anna, soror", a short yet intense story of impossible love in the 16th century, over and over, with the same emotion every time. He also appreciates adventure in books, with Frédéric Dard's San Antonio and comic books.

Once filled with experience and knowledge, Harry came back to the old continent. The call of family. He got together with one of his brothers in Montpellier and took the plunge to restaurant industry. Harry spent ten years managing local restaurants. Until he met Olivier Château. Harry started working at Jardin des Sens as an assistant manager. His first steps in Château-Pourcel group. Filled with new ideas to implement, Harry was then ready to handle the reconnaissance and go live a new challenge somewhere else. With his quiet ways, he headed for another continent, with a different culture, and manners he did not know. Jacques & Laurent Pourcel chose him to run Maison Pourcel. In Shanghai, they offer him a unique adventure. Since he settled in China, our 21st century gentleman gives selflessly, shares limitlessly, in a naturally elegant way. The way he talks and the way he moves are only the reflection of a very good, old-fashioned French education, made of sobriety and respect. A genuine gentleman. He could only feel at ease running Maison Pourcel, a place established right at the centre of the French concession, in a mythical building that is imbued with the art of living and the good manners of a distant Belle Epoque. Harry is very honoured that J&L Pourcel and Olivier Château chose and trust him.

Harry is always ready to seize the opportunities life provides him with, always curious.

He might as well stop for a while and put down roots in Asia!

You get it: what Harry loves more than anything is life and its surprises, gifts and challenges. Go and see! Anything is possible!
